Can anyone advise on the easiest way to get power steering on a R5 i can only think of adapting a corsa b electric type and also is there a quick rack available.

Speak to Alistair, he used a saxo electric pump and a megane coupe rack , 2 1/2 turns lock to lock,

I thought Alastair used a Clio 172 steering rack which should be 2.75 turns lock to lock.

I am using a Clio Williams steering rack which is also 2.75 turns lock to lock.

The Clio 1.8 16v steering rack is identical but has 3.25 turns lock to lock, the same as the original gt turbo manual rack.

I believe the 172 rack requires one of the rack mounts to be spaced out where it bolts to the subframe, where as the 16v/Williams rack bolts straight on.

As for a steering pump its up to you, the electro-hydraulic pumps can be fitted quite easily. However some of the more modern pumps are controlled via their own ecu for variable power assistance.

Your other option if fitting a electric assisted steering column, again these run their own ecu and I'm not sure about space availability beneath the dashboard.

If you require a clio 16v or Williams PAS rack I have some spares of each, PM me

I see and was it definitely 2 1/2 turns lock to lock?

Yep, he made me check it several times to be sure :D it was a bit of a find because all the info suggested they are 2 3/4 lock to lock. It was a megane coupe 2.0 f7r in a S reg.

Out of interest, is there much effort involved in fitting any of the above?

If you can find the set-up you could fit the power steering off a Renault 5 Monaco atuomatic ;)
