so my old laptop starts to boot up and then a blue screen flashes and then it goes back to the first boot up screen,

my question is.. is there anyway to wipe the laptop and restart it from the setup, or boot menu.. it wont let me run safe mode. cheers chaps.

I assume you have put the windows CD in the drive ?

With it giving the large with a BSOD I suspect the RAM might need reseating

this is where im in a spot of bother.. it wont load from the disk, and wont load from the safe mode or the last known good config.

not sure all the porn was worth it now...

Take the Hard drive out, restore it on another PC but just reinstalling windows without deleting old data. Also make a backup incase next step fails!

Make sure all hardware on the laptop is ok like ram, fans etc are all sitting nice.
Put the hard drive back in.
If it fails, its time for a visit to Comet for a new one!
Could be hardware or software, without looking at it i couldnt tell :)
Cost to repair maybe more than an upgrade!
