Fuel Gauge- is it full or empty????

Right......

Left for work this morning with just under a quater of a tank of fuel, By the time i got to work the gauge was reading over 3/4?????????

With the ignition on it then reads just off empty (the correct amount of fuel in my tank). When i start the engine the gauge rises to above 3/4.

Any thoughts of where to start?

there's going to be a poor earth somewhere, either the earth wire at the sender isn't seeing a good connection or one of the earths to the binnacle could be poor.

try checking the earth to the sender 1st, thats the easiest one to find :)
