take the connector off the rad fan switch bridge the connections, if it comes on then faulty sensor or rad full of air.

As tony said, you need to fault find if its the rad fan switch or wireing itself. My money would be on the rad fan relay, very common for filling with water :D

the fan comes on when bridging the plug from the rad switch

It could be rad temp switch but the sensors dont usually fail. how high was the gauge going?

if you have bridged the switch and the fan works then it has to be a failed switch itself or a big air bubble in the rad behind the switch giving it duff readings. Ive come accross both before :)

for the sake of a £5.00 get a new rad switch. It's only a 15 min job to change it:)

Mine stopped working recently, it got above halfway where it normally comes on, when mking sure wires where still clipped on fan switch i wriggled the wires going to the fan unit itself and it came on, so mine is a dodgy wire there
