Rite guys, I have been restoring my 5 for 18 months now the project is near finished apart from building the engine, which I will do over the winter. My question is, can I plug in the engine bay wiring loom so I can start to check that all lights etc are working.

You can if you ensure that all electrical connections etc are insulated from ground. Basicly, tape up the live connection that drops from the battery to the starter, brake resovoir wires, water tmp connections and unplug the loom which goes to the engine block - all should be well.

Got everything working but the horn, will have a go at it this weekend any help would be welcome :)
