Was just checking out the Adaptronic profile on youtube and found a fella has made an Android app and connected the ECU to a serial port Bluetooth adapter for it all to work.

Im definetly going to give it a try. I have Note which has large enough screen for this kind of stuff.

Do you think this would work:

I did spot that when you posted that you where buying that nodiz kit. :) looks like a great feature right out of the box too. :agree: was it M-tec that brought there rollers to last years national day?

I bought myself a android tablet for Christmas going to see if it'll work with the adaptronic in my little rust bucket. :agree: ill report back once in a month or so if I can get the free app to work with it.

It should have just got a lot easier ! :

The latest firmware 10.108 (official realease V11 in a week or so) will broadcast live gauge data without the need for the PC or whatever to request it like before.

The protocol is industry standard modbus, so just about any app that can decipher modbus should be capable of retrieving and displaying live serial data from the ECU.

I can send the details of the modbus adaptronic protocol to anyone who is serious about getting an app or other software working.

PS, the natural broadcasting of gauge data will only apply to new units - 420d / 440 / select. For those with older 420c ECU's (probably most of you on here) will need to use some other interface that can request (poll) for modbus data OR use an ELM327 adaptor and software.

Regards the ELM327, if you don't know what an EML327 is, google it. Both the 420c and later ECU's support data output compatable with the ELM327 OBD-II interface. You might find an app that works with the ELM327, in which case you may simply need one sat between the tablet and ECU.

Other recent updates include inbuilt race technology support - which is a first - and means you can connect a Racetech DASH2 or similar straight to the ECU's spare RS232 port. No need for expensive adaptor cables like other ECU's.

All good fun :)

Can nodiz support a twin spark/v8 ?

Oops, don't worry, just read a bit of the manual.....looks like 4 pot wasted spark only?

Torque - Fantastic app, that's worth the money.

I'm sure if asked nicely (and he is approachable for new ideas) the developer could integrate it to work with Adaptronic ecu's...assuming they use the same OBD2 protocols as modern day o.e units.

Well, the Adaptronic like most standalone really doesn't support OBD-II directly but it will talk to an ELM327 and send the same live data you find on OBD-II (temperatures, throttle angle, rpm, ignition advance, etc ). You must use an ELM327 interface though. Other interfaces are not guaranteed to work !

Megasquirt can so assume the noodiz can as its from a company who used to sell dodgy megasquirt units:sad2:

Works perfect, and was only a tenner or so off Ebay.

Would I be wrong in assuming that a Racetech Dash4 would also plug straight in then Scoff? :D

No, not wrong :) It's the same protocol, just not many folk can afford Dash4 :D

I had noticed this when I googled it a few weeks back, but price comes into its own once you work out how much your looking at in terms of various separate gauge along with ending up with a dash looking like its from Knight Rider!

So what's the best way to give my ecu Bluetooth. Think I've the 420c do I use a serial port to Bluetooth or is there a way to wire a ELM327 to my ecu's serial port?

Logg - was looking into this the other day, downloaded the app and ordered the adaptor. I assume it will hook straight into where you used to plug the lead for the laptop me owd fruit.

Did you do yours?

Ahh, Bollox - just got mine - it's an obd2 connector. How do you connect this? looking for adaptor leads and they're all the wrong Gender.

Help

Again OLOL

C'mon guys - anything?

I've got the app - I've got the hardware - I've got no idea.

Do I need to make a lead up? Any pointers on what pins do what?

Im very interested in this although I have the 420B it should in theory do the same. Thing is no one has come up with the answer on how it all fits together?
