hi all, finally getting round to doing last few bits on mikes 5, today went to mates garage to fit the 2 1/2 downpipe, after quickly lining up with exhaust i could see the flange was bearly lining up with d/p maybe only 3mm of contact all the way round if your got it centred 100% spot on, checked and found no leaks then mike rings and tells me fumes are stinking car out, think i may need to put standard back on, i used lots of paste and its a scorpion 4" system not sure on front part but obviously not 2 1/2 lol any help apprec thanx mick

You need a 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 inch exhaust or you need a adaptor for your 2" scorpion. It will not seal otherwise.

originally we brought the 2 1/2 dp was because we we told that it would be ok with the exhaust we have so it sounds mad putting a 2 1/2 on to restrict it down back to the size of the front pipe, so does anyone know the frontpipe size i think its 2" as mark states 2 1/4 / 2 1/2 will fit without a spacer, not sure what to do now any more help is gladly apprec lads thanx again mick

sorry got standard dp er measured and the hole that mates up to frontpipe size starts at 1 3/4 in to 2 1/4 inch so i recon the standard is 2" so front pipe must be 2 inch can someone verify that for me thanx mick

The whole scorpion exhaust system will be 2", maybe smaller at the bends. You need a adaptor or a new system.

thanx mark is it worth having the big dp iyo and spacer or refit standard dp also if its leaking when i wire the afr the readings will be wrong wont they??? so it needs to be leak free first before i wire afr in?? thanx mark again

i would say fit it if you have it but i dont really see the benefit of fitting a bigger d/pipe if its then going back into a smaller exhaust system unless im wrong i cant see you making any gains at all. Also regarding the afr readings surely your bung is fitted at the top of the down pipe so you would take the readings just after the turbo rather than at the bottom end of the d/pipe so it shouldnt read incorectly if thats right :D
