Hi,as title really. My idle afrs are 14.5ish,as soon as I come off idle they drop to 10 up to about 1500/2000rpm,this sometimes causes the car to bog down.So far IV replaced the mixture screw, ccleaned idle jet several times, reset acc pump with 5mm drill bit.Would a smaller idle jet help or maybe using a larger drill bit to set the pump.any ideas, thanks

Whats your carb spec mate? Has anything else been changed in there at all

120main,120ac,120second stage,45idle.when the revs get to a certain point the afrs instantly go to mid13s at part throttle. After reading various threads is this infact normal for it to go rich for a couple of seconds?and maybe the hesitation/bogging down issue lay elsewhere?

sounds like maybe accelerator jet incorrectly adjusted?

Just wondered if using a 5mm drill bit is generally ok to set the acc jet. When I set it today it wasn't set right for a 5mm drill bit so thought I had solved the problem but when I put it back together it was the same.Didn't get chance to check today but before cruising part throttle or coasting no throttle the slightest throttle would see afrs drop to mid 10s for a second before rising.

Carbs are crap unless at a constant load eg full throttle, idle or constant speed, it's a balancing act to get them to fuel well. Fluctuating isn't a problem as long as it settles nicely.

Mine does this too but more in the 11s than 10s. Ive always thought it was just the accelerator jet doing its thing?? because at part throttle/crusing im seeing 13/14s.
Never caused any bogging down tho.

Can you elaborate please Tony:agree:

Seems like its pumping a little too much.

Ahhhh Ok thats possibly an issue with mine then:agree:

What i was asking though is, adjusting this, any tips? and the 5mm drill adjustment/setting is that a good starting point?

Hi guys,IV been having a tinker with the carb and generally I'm now happy with it,still have a small problem though, when setting off my afrs drop to flat 10 for about 2-3seconds,if I take my foot off the accelerator as they get to 10 the afrs go up to 12s and everything is ok then. This is the only time when this happens, cruising afrs are good, off throttle afrs are 15-16 which drop to 12 on initial light throttle before returning to normal, does this rule out the acc jet?thanks
