Where does the needle sit with ignition off? Mine sits just beneath 0 but it looks like it should sit lower than that

Just did a google image search for 'renault 5 gt turbo clocks' but can't see any that are sat at 0, should the needle not drop to the bottom like fuel and coolant temp does?

Also... notice you're in leicester - got any spare clocks or goodies? :laugh:

The needle sits flush with the bottom of the shaded area. It should rise to 0 briefly with ign on then move up to show oil level, then when started reads oil pressure.

Ahh ok, mine doesn't sit anywhere near the bottom with ignition off which might explain why it goes off the clock when it's showing my oil pressure... lol

Does anyone have a picture of their clocks showing the correct position?

Might be worth bearing in mind that if they have had lockwood dials fitted then the needle can rub on dial face if its not been stuck down properly, or the needles were not returned to exact position after lockwoods fitted that they were originally causing a slightly different reading of the gauge.

Mine reads the oil level just fine but not pressure :(

I assume this will just be a dead sensor.

It's not the sensor in the sump that reads oil pressure, it's the sensor on the turbo oil feed banjo

I think there is some confusion here - i've removed my red lockwood dials in favour of some original untouched dials but i'm just not convinced on the oil pressure needle position, it hasn't been taken off before

In that case, ill have to check the wiring around there next time I get to the unit. Is it common for the pressure sensor to fail or is crap 20+ year old wiring usually the fault?

Guys, this sensor on the oil feed banjo is very prone to clogging up and giving false readings. Not to mention the wiring!

It is worth removing the sensor and giving it a clean... Or fit a mechanical gauge but you lose the gauge from the dash!

I'm still trying to find a t-piece that fits on the bottom on the oil feed banjo, so you can have both the mechanical gauge and the one on the dash working.

If you want to keep the o.e gauge working when fitting an aftermarket gauge just tee into the top of the banjo above the one way valve.
