View Full Version : pipe in to sump?
Right so my sump was nakard, i got one off a friend who had one lying around, spent all day removing mine and fitting the new one then went to put tge pipe on that goes from the turbo to the sump and it doesnt fit so grabbed my old sump and the fitting on the sump is a differant size, the sump i had on was a baffled sump and ive just put an ordinary stock sump on, anyone know a reason why these are differant? And does it make that much differance having a baffled sump seen as the car does not go on the track?
Phase 1 and 2 are different diameters, I think the phase 1 is smaller.
Ohhh so that would suggest my old sump was off a ph1 thn lol. wts the pipe for? is it just a return from turbo?
The pipe is the oil return off the turbo.
I thought it would be. so fitting a larger diameter pipe isnt going to cause a problem is it? Obviously i would need the larger fitting for the pipe to go on the turbo but thats easier than changing the sump again lol rite bitch of a job they are haha
Larger pipe wont cause a problem.
Cheers pal. didnt think it would do but makes it easier wen sum1 else says it haha :)
Bigger ph2 pipe is better mate ill be honest:)
cool. i can just fit any pipe as long as its for oil cant it or does it have to be certain stuff?
Ideally you need a fluoro lined silicone hose but a normal silicone bend should work OK

Are there any problems doing this the other way round?
I'm putting a baffled sump on mine which has the smaller pipe? I was going to sleeve the smaller pipe so that my bigger pipe fits over it.
I have the baffled sump with the smaller pipe on mine, have used a reducing 90deg elbow with no problems:) be better fitting the proper pipe for a tenner to reduce the chance of leaking though.

Renault enlarged the oil return on the Phase 2 there must be a reason for doing so.
I can only guess to prevent the oil backing up
Nah it's probably to help oil drain faster and not stay in the hose, thus toping and getting past the seals on the turbo.

Thats what he said
I was thinkin the same must be to get the cooler oil in quicker. they wunt of changed the size on the p2 unless they proved it to better :)
