My 21 Turbo

After collecting Clee's 21 last week I have had a good week trouble free motoring....

I have fitted the drivers side window as it had been broken into up at clee's, when replacing the window I couldnt help but notice how bad the window seal was...

So £30 later at Renault I got this

Sadly I managed to get a kink in it, will try and straighten it later....

Gave it a good clean today, the wheels need repainting soon as paint has lifted and starting to attack the alloy, I have a friend who does shot blasting, so I will be giving him a call...

Has a few area's of rust that need attention and abit of paint on the rear quarters...

Front suspension is shockingly soft, so I will be chatting Matt@codered up to see what he can do...

Tasty motor there fella, I'd kill for a quadra but ill settle for turning my 9 into a mini 21.

No major plans, just to get it tidy and relaible... Its got about 180bhp atm and I am happy with that. Its a cheap run around with abit of poke :D

I'll have a word with my mate, he has a quadra non turbo hatch sitting round the back of his garage (next to my zx 16v sprint car and R19 16v exclusive...must do something with these two!) might be able to secure some bits from it.

I'll have a word with my mate, he has a quadra non turbo hatch sitting round the back of his garage (next to my zx 16v sprint car and R19 16v exclusive...must do something with these two!) might be able to secure some bits from it.

Turbo and turbo quadra models take a different diameter taper on the track rod ends where they attach to the front shock absorber. Not necessarily a problem as you can fit the non turbo track rod ends to match at the same time as the threads on the steering rack arms are the same. It's something that needs consideration soon in the 21 turbo world as Renault have recently ran out of stock of the turbo tre's. They weren't cheap either at £50 a side so changing to non turbo tre's with adapters for the taper may be the solution there.

I'd also assume that the turbo shock absorbers are the stiffest standard parts that you could fit and the top mounts shock absorber mounts to the hub may be different causing camber/caster issues. If you have an oval plate number Matt I'll check what top mount arrangement your non turbo quadra uses.

I have some old shocks that you can adapt to adjustable coilovers if you wish?

glad to see another happy 21 owner and the car getting some tlc that it deserves. shame it took so long to sell and at such a cheap price but sure lee's glad of the space.
lewis, is there much difference between the turbo/non turbo models besides the engine? i presume its not as simple as just dropping a turbo lump to be the same?

Just going for scrap once we get round to it.

Last time I looked at it the trees were hugging it. But complete.
It is a non turbo car.

Starts, first time, drives great, no smoke from engine or turbo, never overheats.

Tax til March, Out of MOT (Will need hand brake cable fitted, Front Pads & most likely Discs aswell, and abit of rust over the suspension Turrets (will get some pics up).

The rear quarters need some paintwork as it was knocked at Clees (has been pulled out and ready to be painted... or not, your choice.


I will be asking £500 for the car as it is....

I will try and give it a good clean this week and upload some more photos.

Already got a 172 (which is nearly ready to be collected), hence the 21 going, the 5 is going on eBay tonight, then its a case of saving up for a Motorbike... no more Renault Turbos for me...

:D I have covered about 1000 miles in the 21, a great car, but no room for them all, and I am in need of a every day car as will be using my car for work(hence the 172 coming back)... needs to be abit more econmical than the 21, otherwise it really wouldnt be up for sale.

A Pic of Log book, previous MOT's and invoices for jobs going back to 2000 from the previous owner, over £13,500's of work carried out to this car by the owner previous to Clee.

Remember that clee had the Sills done for last years MOT, and there still fine... just the top turrets to sort and its a solid 21 Turbo

Its a lovely car for you mate, it really is... and i havent mentioned but it goes like sh*t of a shovel.... Its very addictive... i notice the exhaust has a spark plug in the end.... should wire it up and have a flamer kit :D

Insurance - Cheap....
Tax - not so cheap... £130 6 months, £210 12 months... i forget exactly, but will find out for you buddy.

sound, megane is pricey for a daily, tax isnt far off that...... not botherd on mpg but insurance is £500 on the 225...:eek:

IT is very cheap,I forget what I paid, was around £600, I have fitted a stereo and drivers side side window since then, I cant be bothered to clean it up, MOT it, so just want to offer on here cheap...

Its been very well looked after, clee had it for many years aswell and has spent time on it... log book says 4 previous owners...
