View Full Version : Steering column - Upper section inner shaft
I'm after the above for Whitey - It's the inner shaft that's within the upper section of the steering column assembly (what the steering wheel locates onto, and the other end slots into the U.J).
Replacing the column bushes on Whitey and noticed the shaft teeth (that slot into the U.J) have seen better days (read worryingly worn), hence would rather play safe for the future with another shaft with more meatier teeth present.

Got a whole column with barrel and keys. Any good to you?
Matt.
If you can take the inner shaft out, I'll take it please mate (just saves me having to remove the upper column assembly, swap over the ign' barrel, etc).

Ok, I'll see if I can find one already out of the shaft housing.
Need any shaft bearings? Got some of those too.
Thanks Matt.
I've got new bearings (that's why I was removing the shaft in the first place as the old bearings had worn/was quite a bit of lateral movement present).
Just incase Matt can't find a shaft already removed, or doesn't have time to remove one, if anyone else has one, drop me a PM please - Needed fairly urgently.
I had one, just looked but it's gone. I must have chucked it into the metal recycling.
It did have some damage to one end where I'd hammered it to get it out of the bearings / outer tube. Very soft is that metal. Be careful how you hit it, use a block of wood or a mallet, not a metal hammer.
Could anyone with a copy of Dialogys find me the part number for the shaft please?
the part number for the shaftwas discontinued years ago. I tried to get one in maybe 2006, only available with the outer case for hundreds of pounds.

Great :crap:
I have a full column or two in the garage, as for condition pass but if your stuck might do?
All sorted now mate, but thanks for the offer :agree: :)
I haven't forgotten about those 'boxes either - Just need to find some time to get down to you to collect them... :crap:
