View Full Version : Fog lights always on!
Tried to hook up my fog lights last night, plugged them in to my connectors and to my surprise they came on!
Checked the ignition was off, lights were off, tried both fog light switches but I just couldn't get them to switch off which is odd.
Any ideas?

Can relays stick in the on position? Check the relay.
I did wonder that myself..
I'll whip the headlight out and have a look at it next time i'm at the garage
I'll probably just replace the relay anyway

lucky bugger, most of us wish our fogs would come on.
:cooter: My car is certainly full of surprises..
Managed to take it for a quick drive up the road last night, bearing in mind it's been off the road for the last 2 years!
Still loads more to do before it's on the road though

Snap mines have never worked
I presume you've all checked your relays and wiring etc?
Did you sort?
The dash switch itself can also fail, try another dash switch sounds like it's still getting a perm live feed to keep it on from somewhere else. Any dodgy wiring on the fog light part of the loom. T he fog light loom is pretty basic. Doesn't the fog light's share the horn relay??
Check relays anyway

Can't share a relay it they'd come on when you beep, or beep when the fogs were on lol. Mines the ****ty earth clip on the fog light itself.
Switch may have failed then as I think the front fog switch has lost it's spring action, you can press it down but you have to pull it back up.
The light on the dash comes on/off as normal though

have a look at the loom were it runs past and under the inter cooler . ive seen a few trapped there causing a sim problem
Had another look at this tonight
There's a grey 3 pinned plug next to the drivers side headlight, looks like it's the fog light plug, and that connects to the loom which goes to the fog light relay behind the headlight.
I unplugged this, and my multimeter is showing a permanent 12v on one of the pins with the ignition off.
I tried unplugging the front fog light switch but that made no difference, still showing 12v.
I tested the switch, turning it on illuminates the light on the dash and i can hear a little relay click in the fusebox.
Should there be a permanent 12v feed to that three pin plug?
Did you ever get to the bottom of this? Mine is doing the same thing since i put it all back together after the respray:crap:
I will go and get the multimeter on it when it stops raining!
All fixed, was just a knackered relay behind the headlight after all
