Hi guys,
i'm planning to build new engine over the winter. I'm going to use volvo 2.0 8v engine with conrods from r19 1.9td. My question is are the piston and the conrod are going to fit ?
Also i'm hoping to get 8;1 comp ratio with 2 head gaskets or with head spacer. What you guys recon ?
Thanks

As mentioned on fb why use the R19 1.9td rods and pistons? I've never seen some so not too sure what they look like
You will have to get measurements and see if they fit into the bore of the Volvo 2.0l
If you want to lower the comp down to 8.1:1 i would machine the pistons abit, i've never like the idea of 2 headgaskets
Over the winter i'll be stripping down the laguna 2.0l engine i have, see whats possible to fit in there ;)

I'm going to use only the rods not the pistons because the diameter of 1.9td is 80mm and the 2.0 is 82.7. But the rods are the same 93mm

If rods are same why use them?
Are they just same length but different in shape compared to the Volvo ones or they identical

They're stronger than the Volvo and this is the reason why i'm goind to use them. They're stronger than the b18ft ones

Have you got pics of them mate? The volvo ones are pretty strong now so never thought they would need upgrading
I'm going forge ones in my new lump but thats only because of what i'm doing to it

Be interesting to see what they look like
I presume all diesel engines from that engine design would use the same rods

Yeah,
This what i need to know is the conrod ( from 1.9td)will bolt on to the piston from 2.0 8v. You know the piston have a piston bolt on which the conrod fits. Is the diameter from 1.9td and 2.0 are the same?

Think the only real way your going to know that is try it
Soon when i strip the new engine down i can measure then gudgen pin and see if its same as Volvo, that way least get an idea if they kept it all similar/same

Not for a few weeks mate, i'm in process of buying a hosue so all attentions going on that at moment plus finishing a few jobs off here.
Once i'm in and in the new garage (well lit and warmer) i'll be stripping it down ready for its major overhaul, plus i'll be doing last bits on mine too
