I did not know magnatec was available in fully synth! Any way if its the magnatec i know its pants and breaks down with excessive heat. I found that mobil super s was the best to use at 7800rpm!!:D

i use magnatec, ive never had any problems, you say it breaks down in excessive heat? how much heat? as i know my engine oil doesnt get over 90 degrees on its way to the cooler.

autodata say

-25 deg c = 5/40
-20 deg c = 10/30 or 10/40
-15 deg c = 15/50

Have only had my 5 a year and a half, done 1 oil change and put 10/40 in, been fine for the last year (2000 miles) am changing it monday aswell, will probs go for 10/40 again

Anything over 100 deg i would say and high revs. I used it temperary once and then banged it on the rollers. It spat a load out of the exhaust, was very thin and watery and rattled the top end. I changed it for comma which was just better and then for mobil super s. I had seen 150 deg temps exiting the turbo on that stuff and it still kept good pressure.

Leave the magnatec for your corsa.:dearme:

You dont want to be using thin stuff, would even think twice about 10w40, anything thin would just escape. But it is all down to the spec of your engine and how its been maintained, if its had a re-build or if its just been left alone.
