Hi everyone,
I am going to start a build thread on my R5 turbo which i bought with fire damage on the front end (please see photos).
The fire took out parts of the loom and as you can imagine everything within that area e.g Grill,Headlight, loom, fan, indicators, bonnet, wings etc.
The reason for buying this fire damaged one was because the shell itself is really tidy with barley no rust on it at all and to repair the damaged parts wouldnt be that hard of a job (easier then welding the shell back together).
The car itself has only done 41k so has had a fairly easy life untill someone tried to make a bonfire out of it:eek:
Photos from the first day.

The day after i got the car i stripped out all damaged parts to asses how much damage the fire had caused.

It seemed the fire hadnt done to much damage, only cosmetic really. as stated above parts of the loom were burnt so needed to make all of this safe before i tried to get it started.
Trying to start this car seemed to be a challenge as it had so many obstacles in the way, it hadnt been started in 2 years, it had been set alight and i didnt know if it was a runner when buying it so fingers crossed
I started by making the burnt loom safe and tracing the wires back as fair as they were melted, most of them were only melted locally but i came across 1 wire which was proving a problem so i had to take the dashboard apart and find out its destination.

After rewiring the melted cable it was time to try and crank it over, so fill with oil, water and build up the oil pressure, then i went for gold and tried to start it................................................ ............................
Nothing happened so further investigation was needed.
1-no spark
2-fuel pump not firing
3-i found a alarm hiding under the dashboard:coffee:

So next step was to remove the alarm and try again. :crap: still no fuel pump. took the relay out to find out it wasnt working, so with a little tickle on the battery i managed to make the relay open itself again and now works perfect :smokin:
so attempt 2............. after a few turns of the key and checking various things while turning it over..........boom it started and sounded surprisingly good. (video below)

As you can imagine i was over the moon it started and sounds amazing considering its been sat for 2 years.
so next step was to start getting the odd jobs done ready for a MOT (hopefully) :D

So thats as fair as ive got up to date, BUT i have lots planned for this car during the winter months (the photo below may give you some ideas of what i have planned for it)
