Are many of you using strut braces?

Not noticed any bit I have one on the front £16 off eBay as for the rear I can't see a point as the rear is independent from the body.. Just mop bud

Yes deffinately, you'd be supprised how much a car actually flex's when the suspension is stiffend up. I have noticed a big difference running a strut braces in a GTT (front and rear)

I have a 19 16v cabriolet at the moment, 1 owner rot free and lowered on extremely stiff coilovers/Koni's and when I park on my sloped drive I struggle to fasten the roof up because my car bows slightly and everything seems to go out of line, ok it hasn't got a roof but it'll give you an idea how much a car can flex under strain. My 19 comes standard with a front strut brace, not a very good one but it does help a bit.

Imagine what happens chucking a stiffend up gtt into a corner at 60-70mph... If there is very little suspension to absorb a corner or even a twist under alot of power the chassis takes all strain.

+1. Front, I've not tried a read on a 5GTT.

Could tell the difference going around the first corner after I fitted it. A right turn from a main road into a T junction, so probably less than 20mph. Front of the car was steady instead of the usual unstable movement.

Fitted a lowish cost OMP.

I took my strut brace off once to get it powder coatedand after a few days my windscreen started to come out on the drivers side front corner!!

Must have been fitted a bit pikey as I had it re-fitted and it was fine.

I'm sure the extra flex contributed in revealing the pikey windscreen fitting.

Did the cup cars have them?

For £16 or what ever you can pick them up cheap bang one on for 20mins work it's an easy mod..

The front strut braces make a difference but the rear braces for a gtt do nowt imo. If they had rear struts/turrets as standard at the rear a brace would work.

even on a standard car a front strut brace makes a massive difference to handling. - much more direct feeling from the front of the car.
