does the box have to come off to change this?

Yes they do fella you also ideally need a bracket that bolts into the lug (gearbox casing) where the clutch cable rubber end holds itself fast this also extends the cable and keeps it in line with the extra length of the pedal.I bought a kit but couldn`t be ar5ed to open up box so made my own clutch arm extension.Saying that the kit has literally transformed the drive of the car so well worth doing..
