Im puting my head back on this week, 2 engines i stripped down recently - 1 had washers on every head bolt, 1 had washers on every head bolt but the 2 at either end which also clamp down the rocker rail - which is correct?
Using high tensile bolts, what are people torquing them up to these days?
cheers
You dont need the washers on the rocker pedestal ends just were the bolts meet the head so you need 6 thick washers not those thin crappy things
80Nm is good for the 12.9's I do mine to 85, depends how accurate your wrench is;)
As mentioned with the washers make sure they are the thick cast type washers, otherwise as happened in my case the washers mushroomed and the head began to lift under boost:eek:
