Right then peeps, I know what the problem is but I want some second opinions.

Right the car is heating very quickly and staying hot, the stat is fine and cuts in ok, you can see the temp drop when it does but then almost straight away it gets hot again and when you give it a boot full it gets hotter and hotter. Even driving at a steady 70mph it's running hot.

Now I've let it cool over 24 hours, removed the header tank cap to let any pressure out then refitted it, run the car for 30 seconds and shut it off and opened the tank again and there's pressure.

There are no leaks, the rad is mint, the fans are brand new and work off switch so I control them when ever I want.

Opinions people what can I be missing apart from the obvious problem that I'm sure it is?

Have you got any bleed screws in your system to remove unwanted air :/ it could be something silly like that

Sorry mate I thought you were running a GTT with a C1J. I'll go with the first one head gasket ;)

with a hg prob the pipes should go very hard(or baloon)...check rad again, bring it for a spin and then feel rad....if its cold at the bottom and hot every where else...it could be choked!!

Are you running any anti-freeze?

think both the two most probable answers are in here, hopefully it's just an air lock but your rad may not be flowing as freely as it should. i had a similar issue and was a crap filled rad causing it, new one cured it :crap:

Brand new rad so that's not the problem, yeah the coolant hoses go fairly hard after a drive :(

I think it pretty much confirms that there's an issue with the HG, oh well time to break out the tools tomorrow

How hot are we talking as it will run hotter than a c1j that's just the way they are.

i run a cheap china r5 rad in my f7p it works fine gets hot while sitting in traffic rad fan does be on constant but once i get moving i can drive flat out with any cooling issues.
i reckon you got hairline cracks in the centre of the block around the head stud bolts:crap:

Co test is the best way to confirm HG if the hoses are going hard then it does point towards that. Can you smell petrol in the header tank?
