View Full Version : Regarding renault 11 rear brake swap

Anyone has any information regarding renault 11 rear brake swap to disc brake? from which care it can be used? what kind of problems can be faced during swap? I have hear that we can use rear axis from renault 19? is it right?

I know that the Renault 19 16v has been used on the Renault 9, but not sure on the 11 but would have thought it would be the same on transferring across. Best person to speak to his Schakal

r19 axle can be used, only difference is it has more trackwidth.

is that much difference in width? also should be the axis changed along with torsion bars from the renault 19?

Yes i think so, the 19 axle has 4 torsion bars like a 5 gtt.

I don't know how much the track width difference is. I guess 1,5cm each side

i dont think so they had rear disc brakes and if they had there is other problem finding one to buy :)

are you changing from drums to disc? so its not a turbo model? turbo one fits odviously, the 19 one fits but its 16v one that has discs and is wider track, not enough for the wheels to rub but depends how low you go. can measure up if you want?

im having two turbo models and both of didnt have rear disc brakes. it had only drum discs. this is one if the diference that renault 5 turbo was with all disc brakes and renault 11 turbo only with front disc brakes :(

I love my drum brakes on my 9 turbo, the hand brake is epic :) why do you wanna swap it??

Phase two (UK) 9 and 11 Turbo's has discs at the rear. In fact IIRC I sold one to someone off here a long time ago, possibly Briggsy :)

Are you sure you need to change the whole axle? I can switch rear brake types on a 21 by dropping the whole stub axle carrier off the rear trailing arm. Makes it a bit easier.

Same here, my Ph1 9 is staying drums on the rear.
