down pipe

So I'm going to take my down pipe off to weld on a boss, so I'd like to know do I need gaskets for these joints also how likely is it that I'll snap the bolts

No gaskets, and spray the bolts with plenty of wd40 !

do I use putty or is it a metal to metal seal

u can get a new exhaust coupling ring(at bottom of drop pipe) and i used holts(?) exhaust paste...with good results :)
