i have been thinkering with different pistons to use in my 2l turbocharged F7R. i currently have some skimmed jobbies which are up to 9,2:1.

at that time i also measured the whole piston to know it's specs. however i want to lower compression slightly more and i was wondering how much i could skim or maybe could use other pistons.

so i bought me a spare set of F7R, F4R and F4RT pistons. and because i thought you guys would like to know too i measured and compared every piston with eachother and documented everything in an Excel sheet.

i can now confirm that F4RT pistons will give the same 9:1C/R in a F7R. only thing i do wonder is how people install F4RT jobbies in a F4R. they have about the same compression height but a F4R piston has pretty big valve cutouts and F4RT's don't have any at all :crap:

considering the F4RT pistons would give 9:1 in a F4R and in a F7R i presume F4R pistons would give 11:1 in a F7R too. although by looking at the pistons i think the volume of the valve cutouts will prevent that...

maybe the comp volume's of the 3 engines differ?

i still have to fill in more but it's way too sunny outside to stay behind the computer right now!

(will upload pics of the pistons later, going to get baked now!)

good work and info there :smokin:

when you finished getting baked, how about measuring the f7p;)

Already know a bit of theory on them. Total swept volume is 449,5cc. Considering the c/r is 10:1 the comp volume would be ~49,5.
1mm total skim which would add 5,34cc would give around 9,2:1.

Ofcourse on al calculations i've let away the variables of skimming the head/block and al calc's are based on factory given specs..

Next week i'm going to pull a f7p apart for the rods so may aswel measure them too :agree:

thats what i like to hear, the f series line up would'nt be complete without the revvy 1.8 :cooter:

i think thats the problem, i stopped using rtic for pictures for posts and use like photobucket and they are a better size i think............been a while lol

You just need to reduce the size of the picture before uploading it. The files area doesn't resize images, so if you upload a 2000px wide image it'll stay 2000px wide :)

I'll put them on photobucket tomorrow:agree:
