Nice. Did you replace the headgasket yourself in the end?

Take it easy when you get out there. Find out what your engine is doing before you drive it. You need to be sure the last HG failed because of overheating. Find a nice stretch of straight road, 3rd gear, 2k revs, plant the throttle and watch the boost gauge, if it starts to go past the 'O' back off gently.

Report back here.

haha nice to see you have confidence in me trev.

yes the head was skimmed and gasket was replaced with an extra thick uprated head gasket from cgb (i think thats what they are called. they are in telford) and uprated head bolts.

i will do that long stretch test when the roads are in better condition as it is awful slippy around here.

and finaly i didnt do it all my self but helped out and watched the mechanics every move so i could pick up on things.

Nice one. It's always worth having a nosey while repair work is going on.

To be honest, if you've simply skimmed the head and replaced the gasket there's a strong possibility that you've not tackled the REASON the gasket blew in the first place. Which is more or less what a ton of people were saying in your original thread.

You might get lucky but if I were you I'd be keeping a really keen eye/ear on everthing for a while.

Let us know what happens.

yes i know it was gettin pressure tested n skimmed today nd the bloke noticed that it looked like the problem was between the block and the gasket nd not the gasket nd the head so thats getting looked into now.

hopefully that will reveal the problem of why it went and can get it done properly.

Which way did it blow the gasket mate, did it burn between cylinders or was the fire ring egg shaped?

it looks like it wasnt lined up properly when it was put in and he just forced the bolts passed it because the bolt holes are egg shaped and 1 has even gon through it and is revealin the metal.
