Restoring my phase 1 and i have a faded, used red carpet here that came out the car and a cracking Raider black one which i was going to use.Being the adventurous type i would love to custom fit a new red carpet,it would really freshen it up!Anyone ever tried it?The easy bit is the laying the old carpet over a new piece of car carpet but obviosuly getting it to bend, sink into all the contours of the body seems like it would be a nightmare!

I imagine it would be difficult to make a nice job. Also carpet that wont fade and is hard wearing wont be cheap?

I've been asked to re-carpet a GTA and now I regret saying yes .Only a few shapes in the floorpan but doing a good job without steaming abilities etc is going to beat me I think :crap:

There's a guy selling rolls of bright red car carpet on Ebay.As you say some kind of steaming thing would be needed to do it all in a oner.I think tunnel part, floor part and sill parts done seperately and pushed flush together might work ok,if it's cut really neat?:D

I used to work for a company that made interiors for Nissan, I took a scrap Micra carpet for an old R5 and to be fair it wasn't too hard to get it to fit nicely. We didn't do a red one though...

Not sure if there are any other small cars that would be a good fit? Clio / Twingo?

Thought about this before, wouldn't mind a black carpet. But I'd probs make a mess of it ha.

ah, memories. in my first 5 i fitted a bright blue carpet, as mentioned its hard to get it to follow all the contours but if you use spray adhesive here and there it helps, and is still removeable ;)
you'll want hard wearing carpet that is normally glued down, like in offices, schools etc as it has no backing like household carpets have. possibly sound system stuff will do too.

My car is fitted with acoustic carpet which done the job well and covered all the way back can hardly see the join but easy to pull away from floor which makes it look untidy :(

Pretty sure the Clio MK1 carpet would be a close fit, unfortunately not red though

yup, but the clio footrest fits :)

u'll need to make holes for the seatbelt and because the seats mount differently on a clio there are a couple of sections to patch with the excess under the rear seats
