First post!

Could anybody recommend someone to rebuild a Gordini Turbo lump for me. Surrey/South London area if possible. Steel pistons and liners definitely required, are there any other good mods for fast road engine that people can recommend - i.e cam spec, valve sizes. I'll be running a T25 and would like @220bhp. My standard dini turbo from the 5 I had a few years back made 190 bhp at 16 psi on the standard T3 with no other mods except GT Turbo pistons and liners so I don't think thats too ambitious. Might have some traction too this time as it's going in an 8. Oh and what's the best clutch that will fit the engine - I'm fitting a T2 bellhousing and UN1 gearbox but don't want to fit the T2 twin plate clutch as it's a national debt. Looking for something that will hold 220bhp but hopefully offer decent driveability.

i'm assuming you'll be running a gt turbo carb?
cams are available from catcams.be
headset from mecaparts
liners from mecaparts.

clutch would be the sticking point. - ive got an uprated cover and the 'f**ker' still slips at close to 13psi. - you need a helix centre plate thats for sure. - you'd also need to be realistic, and think how you wanna use the car? -track, race or normal driving?

i think t2 clutches are about £1k?

These people that spend 1k on a T2 clutch, why don't they have the old ones refurbed ? CG motorsport, questmead, places like that can re-machine the pressure plate and re-pad or puck the center plate(s) for not a lot of money.

wow Tony you're a blast from the past!!! ;-)

isn't Glen still floating around.....??

T2 clutches are ££££ and the outer plate can be 'redone' as its rivited but the inner plate is a different thickenss and is bonded on and when I had mine, no-one had been able to re-do them bar for the original makers!

but a twin plate ap soon sorts most t2's out with a saab slave cyl/release bearing!

Ay up moggs. CG can do just about anything. They'll strip and re-rivet anything. They'll do custom clutches, machine parts in house, and not bad money really. Worth speaking to when there's aparantly no other options :)

thats good to know, as we know that gordini's can produce the power, but are lumbered with terrible 180mm clutch :(

Good to see you guys are still keeping the faith.:) . Glen was my first thought and was hoping he might see the post and reply. Just trying to avoid running engines up and down the country if I can help it. I'm hearing good things about Sparkie though.

Plan was to use a GT Turbo carb to start but maybe progress to some decent mapping and injection when funds allow (never? :)) so I wanted to future proof the bottom end and clutch. Someone did mention you can squeeze in a 190mm clutch with slight machining of the T2 bell housing but I don't know if it's true. Gary Angelos runs an AXGT competition clutch from AP Racing and that holds about 200bhp before it slips - he's running NG5 box though.

Gta running very nicely on your last map Scoff, got 28 mpg on the LeMan Classic trip last month too. Matched a 360 Ferrari 2nd and 3rd gear on the circuit which was pleasing - for me anyway .

Looking to use the 8 as a road legal track day car so it needs to be strong. Bit of drag racing likely too. Gearbox and driveshaft end will be easily strong enough and I know the dini engine can make the power I want with the right bits.

My friend has a 190mm clutch and flywheel to suit, he will let me borrow it if we want to get it copied/uprated.
