Simon, I notice you have another for sale thread in the one that's open to non-members with only your name and number in it. Did you mean to do it the other way round?

Members can see either advert, so it would have made sense to put all the info in the one that's open to non-members so everyone could see the details of the car and pics. As those who don't have a membership wont be able to see this advert.

No takers? :(

tbh i cant see there being any takers, average tidy 11's seem to not fetch more than £1500, there seems to only be a few minters and below average fetch £800 tops. no where near as popular as the 5 although they are getting rarer now??

Great! ...yes not mint, but tidy and i still have a soft spot for the 11t as my late father used to drive one!...Dont want to add a negative, but i have had many 11's and unless you have full service history @51k i think £2300 is too much. Haz is right on the button with his price. Good luck though.... and great to see another 11 T esp. a silver one. All the best.

why will people pay you 1500 to end early when thats the starting price (actually minus fee's). if they wait til it ends with no bids they can haggle you lower, or wait until you relist at a lower price, even more so as you thread makes it seem like people are missing out but personally i think its making you look a bit desparate.
just cos there '?' amount of watchers means exactly that, watchers. i'm one of them as just curious to see what it sells for, as probably most of them are.

not having a go btw, i have an 11 too but wont sell it because it'll never fetch what i have in it, and it'll be a bit special. but if your wanting that amount for it, break it.
or reduce the price by a few days labour stripping. i think you'd get alot more interest at £1200

Having had an R11 also I'd have to agree with Haz - sorry! People just aren't as interested in the R11 as the R5's, strange really as in many ways they're a better car and certainly harder to come by.

My old car!!!!

11-08-2012, 22:39
ah no! whats caused that as thought it had a carb refurb, group a gasket and a bar of boost? if its just the gasket it would be worth doing it for the sake of a few hours work ;)

r11gtsi
12-08-2012, 09:53
If it doesn't sell, then I will do the head gasket and either break or sell it off. Again.

Well worth fixing....esp. if the body is as good as it looks? some free advise: if you fit a new head gasket check the coolant pipe run and remove the thermostat, then when filling the cooling system open each bleed screw in turn whilst pressurising the system via the expansion bottle this can be done with a pressure tester or WITH YOUR MOUTH!!...Only when you are sure of the radiator and the heater matrix -refit a new stat. (i never refitted any thermostat's -allways binned them) The alloy head should allways be checked for warping, and 9 out 10 times they will need skimming! Old head bolts will do (yes they do stretch) but you add extra torque to account for this. Bleeding is important on the 11 t's as the pipe run is a little more complicated than the 5... Good luck. Regards. Spencer

Think very carefully! if you break it- yes you will sell most of the parts, but you wont see anywhere near £2300- more like 1000 and then what do you do with the shell??? very hard to shift, unless a raider, or williams... i'm ashamed to say i have sent plenty of bare 11 t shells to the scrap yard!!! better to fix and wait for the right buyer ie a collector who will appreciate it being a bit rare. Be a shame to see another broken up!....DON'T DO IT!!!!

Make sure what?

If it wasnt the waterpump then expect whoever bought it to be bringing it back when it goes again.

How can anyone expect a 20+yr old car sold at £1200 to be anything but sold as seen? If the g/box falls off and a con rod exits the block 20yds up the road after the deal is done, it's the buyer's pigeon.

Saw this in TW when I was back from HK in late July.. Was misfiring so badly even my Mum noticed (she is a 60 year old primary school teacher with no mechanical experience). Hahaha
