Iirc Phase 1 is 19mm, and Phase 2 are 23mm. If you want to upgrade there are a few available if you can find a decent scrappy. Williams/ 16v Clio are 25/26mm but require cutting down and a little bending to fit. I also heared that campus might be thicker too but can't confirm. Remember you will struggle to get a fatter on as the bushes leave little room. I found it easier with the subframe off the car, you can heat the ARB bushes in a bucket of boiling water to make it easier.

Just checked powerflex website and they list 19 and 23 mm for the Gtt, Andy are you measuring overall diameter or just the metal under the rubber coating?

the inner brackets are different, early brackets are quite small, later ones are the same as clio etc

I also was under the impression that some were smaller than the other... never found any though so maybe it was some early ph1's or they got confused with dini's ??

Thanks for measuring! So for future reference do we agree:
Ph1 19mm
Ph2 21mm
Williams 23mm
172 25mm
Campus - unknown.
16v - unknown.
all are bar diameter not overall Inc rubber coating.

I still say that all GTT are 21mm. The bar I measured was from an 86 car.

I've had three subframes and ARB's on my 5GTT and the bars all measured the same. Could be they were all the same age. Started with an '88. Still got a phase one one there.

This has been discussed many times. IIRC each time it was agreed that the 5GTT bars were the same and I vaguely recall 21mm.

Extra van 575 1.9d is 21mm also. Infact the only difference in the front suspension is beefed up hubs/shockers, look like the same size as clio 16v...
