So a 5 with no mot and tax that needs a engine and a tidy up is a bargain at £750 yet my track prepped one or fisheads oe one couldn't sell at £3500 and they were both very clean.

forsomebody that wants to get on the road with an r5 yes it is a bargain, even comes with lots of chrome goodes which would sell well on ebay.

Your white r5 was stunning imo and well worth the money, but theres a lot of people out there that want to enter the r5 world on a tiny budget, and for them this is ideal.

Totally agree for alot of ppl it's about tinkering and doing things on a budget so this would be perfect!

Am sure I saw that car for sale a couple of years ago for £2,500 and it sold. Used to see it parked up at Whittington a few times.

For some it would seem that buying a car for £1k and then gradually spending £5k on it over a period of two years (as you earn it I guess), is simply more manageable (financially and mentally) than spending £3.5k in a oner.

The alternative is to save for 18months and then buy the minter. How many people are able to implement that sort of discipline? Some but not many.

Personally for me that's what I enjoy - buying something a bit ropey and spending time/money bringing it back to the way you want it. It might end up costing more this way but that depends on how much of the work you can do yourself. There is of course logic of doing it the other way round and saving up first!

Incidentally I wouldn't exactly say that's the bargain of the century for £750. It needs a new engine (£200 at least) and T&T. The front wing/sill looks a bit dodgy too.
