Are the engines and components (apart from turbo) basically the same? What if any are the main differences please?
Thanks.

Easier to ask whats incommon... Short answer the name only
just about the only common components are the rods and crank.
cam is very diferent and has a different valve order.
block is very similar but not the same.
oil pump/pickup very different
sump different
pistons different
cam chain is duplex I think, pulleys different of course
cylinder head is very different of course and will not tolerate being sat in a transverse config without provision for oil draining at the rear.
water pump is on the opposite end and run from the cam which protrudes above the gearbox bellhousing.
