I'm going to buy the all important Air/Fuel ratio gauge for my 5 turbo

Can anyone recommend what the best one to go for is?

My friend can get these for around £100

I have an AEM AFR gauge fitted, bought from EFi parts on here, was £150 (cant remeber if that was posted but I think it was)

OR matey has just posted some items for sale, this included an AEM AFR (£100 which is cheap), you might even get the custom gauge holder if you ask nice... ;)

But you might not get the bung that you need for the downpipe :(

The kit my friend can get from innovate is £135 and comes with the bung to weld into the downpipe, so actually not a bad price then

I believe so does the AEM kit does too (have the bung) but the one you have quoted is cheaper... There are a number of threads relating to “Innovate or AEM AFR gauges?” on here, just remember, you get what you pay for...

My advise would be to source a downpipe with the bung already fitted, that way you can install the item without the car being off the road. Just sell your current downpipe once swapped over?

they can be abit hit and miss... i know a few people that decided to sell them on before fitment due to others having trouble..

i've not heard any bad things about the aem/other brands & sensors failing with them..

This is the new innovate one ( mtx - l ) . not the lc or lm - 1 design.

My car hasn't seen the road in 2 years so I wouldn't worry about it being off the road :dearme:

I've got the downpipe in the boot so I can get the bung welded no problem.

I think i'll probably go for the Innovate that my friend supplies as he's running one in his car and can supply all the parts and weld the bung in. I guess you just connect the sensor and provide it with power and it gives you a reading, no?

ai, dead simple to wire up

I have the AEM as well, brilliant bit of kit and never had an issue with it :)

Aem for me too off the scoff good price great bit off kit and no issues at all £150 sounds alot but put it against the damage it could cause and it all makes sense.. Best first buy for any 5 owner..

Sounds like the AEM is the more favoured one then...

If it comes with the bung and all the bits you need at £150 I might get one of those instead

ai everythings in the kit, I simply welded boss into the downpipe and screwed in sensor and the wiring loom is long enough to go straight into the cockpit. wired it to an earth on footwell and ignition live from the fag lighter feed irrc. think that was it.

Thanks I'll have to do that, will have to wait until I get paid though! Plenty to keep me busy until then anyway.

Can't tell you how much i'm looking forward to driving this thing, i've never been able to take it out for a proper drive

I don't even know if the engine i'm fitting runs or not. I've cranked it with a starter motor and it sounds fine when cranking but know nothing more than that. Bought it for £50!
