Does it have any effect on aerodynamics or drag?? or did Renault fit it purely for Ascetics to match the kit? :)

:wasntme:lol, take it off if your worried about saving weight.
Only joking, in honesty I don't have a clue?

Course it was aesthetics. I don't think anyone (other than a nerd) buys a car for it's aerodynamics.

Well, that's not totally true.. But going off the car as a whole, I don't think they would have put that much money into designing a spoiler for aerodynamics.. More likely it was just designed to match the sporty bumpers / arches.

The car's like a brick. The spoiler is the least of ya drag worries :D

I had just been reading an old PPC mag article on aerodynamics and thought i would ask :innocent:

My cars not got a spoiler but ive got one spare.. unsure if i should fit it... its so heavy lol

from what I remember, when a similar looking spoiler was added to the back of the metro it lowered drag by a point or two. I took mine off coz it's heavy:D

Personally, I think they look 1000 times better with the spoiler. It depends what you want though.. Performance or styling. Or perhaps a bit of both.

in crap weather they are a bitch as they suck all the crap up the back of ya car, my bro's ph1 doesn't have a rear spoiler, and they back of his stays noticably cleaner!

not scientific i know, makes some noticable diff when it comes to dirtyness lol

The Ph2 spoiler I bought for the back of my Ph1 is not heavy at all. Circa 1kg I'd say.

Lol. I knew you were going to say that. I should have put a disclaimer on my post.

In answer: No I'm not. Well, maybe I'm of the armchair variety. :D I'm not sure Winston is either though. :wasntme:

Lol.

Anyway, 1kg for a drag point or two probably equates quite well :D

Agreed to a point, I'd fit it on a circuit car, but not on a hillclimb car. I'd try with and without on the 1/4 mile.

Markey that's actually more scientific than you think mate! you can tell a lot from a cars aerodynamics by following trails of dust across them ;) If you ever get a chance to see a race car with strong aerodynamics such as a le mans car after a race you can see little trails where the air has flowed. Not gona help much with the 5 but just to let you know "dirtyness" can be a tuning aid... that sounded wrong :cooter:

the spoiler is supposed to cut the airflow over the top of the car and directs lots of extra air pressure on to the rear window thus giving you more high speed stability!!
