iv got an 11 box and the ratio is shorter and the final drive gear on the motorway is poo! 70mph at 3600 rpm . great for sprinting tho:agree:

it's because a 11 has bigger wheels from factory than a 5 has:)

138mph @ 7000rpm on GTT box
128mph @ 7000rpm on R11 box

as said, final drive is different. my R11 box has lasted 4-5 years when i was popping GT boxes every 3 months, must put less stress on the gearbox as its shorter

This is a subject i have thought about since starting my raider restoration as i also have an 11 turbo engine and box sitting in my garage. If you had the choice of an 11 turbo box or gtt box for a 5 rebuild after converting to EFI what would you choose and why?

Is it poss to swap 5th gear in the 11 box with one from the gtt to get a longer 5th gear? Or am I way off the mark?:laugh:

Id keep the gtt box for higher top speed. The 11t box is too short ratio for motorway journeys and longer tracks.

is there any gearbox from other renault models that fits straight? or to which models jb3 gearbox was? because if you brake the gearbox there isnt much renault 11 for parts here in lithuania

my 11 turbo box is a jb3 002

and i would say most of the gears feel shorter than the 5 box:confused:

1st gear feels really short allmost like you could just use 2nd gear instead of evan bothering with first gear .

i have a 5gtt and a 11 and have driven both to try feel the difference. and it defently feels like the 11 is quicker through the gears than the five.

are you sure its just the final gear (5th) thats different? ? ? ?

The R11 turbo has a shorter final drive than the R5 Gtt (makes ALL the gears shorter) I think it was because the R11 had 14" wheels and the R5 had 13" wheels.
