do you mean starting the engine from cold?

Full choke and a couple of stamps on the throttle before turning the key always works for me :)

a new set of plugs, leads and dizzy cap will help if it's a starting issue, at least that way you kno you've got a good spark

A well mainteined / looked after 5 will have no problems in any weather ( Well maybe carb freeze if youve got a big I/C !).......i do 40 + miles to work a day in mine, as do afew other member i know...the worst bit is the car getting caked in ****e !!

same here ive just been out in mine.when i comes to the winter the starting can become a issus but round about the 2nd or 3rd time it will start.in the summer its fine.just let your car warm up for a bit nothing worse than driving a cold engine and sometimes juddering everywhere

I'm having similar issues when trying to start my R5.

It can take upto 5 mins to start. Also, when I've pumped petrol into a container to confirm that the pump was working, the petrol went cloudy after a couple of mins.

Apart from the cardboard trick, does anyone have any ideas on how I can resolve this cold starting issue?
