30 mpg :D (I dont drive it into the red)
This went up to 35mpg for a tank after I did the valve clearance but then back down again.
Last time I checked was years ago I got around 28 around town while not being careful 36 on a motorway full T3 turbo 20ish psi with a msm tuned carb.
I did manage heathrow to Mallory park one year using under nine litres of fuel one year. My own tuned carb 110 main jet 1.4 enrichment stock a/c.
All of these where with a big lazy turbo i could do 90-100mph without seeing boost at the manifold. Smaller turbo will usually mean worse mpg for motorway driving.
I have never bothered to work mine out, don't want to put myself off!
All I will say is you had better get on good terms with your local petrol station attendant!!
My brothers car since i did his carb properly for him is a million times better on juice. Having the carb jetted correctly will make a huge difference ;)
