recently I have been experiencing a "clunk" noise when coming off throttle and going over speed humps. I had initially suspected a loose engine mount, but after inspection all seem tight. so next thought was possible suspension issue.

Then going round a roundabout, I felt a loud clunk again, but this time I also heard a rubbing noise, and could also feel vibration from the drivers-side front wheel. The noise was intermittant and got louder depending on speed- like the rotation of the wheel was catching on something.

havent had any time untill today to investigate so Im after some pointers:D

I have front wheels off, and on the edge of the inner rim (drivers side) there was a slight mark - not deep or scored... but all the dust/dirt had rubbed off.

I have clecked for play in the wishbones, suspension, and driveshafts with no obvious damage. The driveshafts rotate freely, although there is a slight noise when turning them which is on both sides so i am unsure wether this is normal or not.

I am pretty clueless to what I should be looking for so any tips/suggestions on what to check?

thanks in advance:agree:

Similar fault in the past with wheel bearing and caused wheel to rub on anti-roll bar bracket when on lock.

you could be onto something with the wheel bearing :agree:

with the wheel back on, hands at 12 & 6 o'clock and shaking the wheel, there is a few mm play....

hopefully its nothing more serious, slightly annoying as its only done 3k on the front bearings :(

If it is the bearing when you replace it try and get a genuine wheel bearing, those cheap pattern ones don't last 5 mins sometimes.

I once went through 4 wheel bearings per wheel in only 12k, put a genuine bearing in and I haven't had to touch it since that was almost 5 years ago.
