Please bare with me as I no sweet fa about weber carbs but... Could you get them to work on a c1j? Twin 45's or something. Obviously you would need some sort of manifold making from two into one but dont they just fuel for the pressure? So less hassle with getting fueling right.. Im probably talking utter crap but in theory in my world it seems a good idea.

I think the problem is Jamie is that the 32DIS is designed to work with the boost pressure of the Turbo engine and a normal Webber carb wouldn't put up with the boost pressure trying to knacker all the seals up?!

You would have to get a seal kit for them to allow for positive pressure.

Not sure they even do such a kit tbh. Would be a lot of work too.. Not only that room would be tight and of course they'd be sitting over a hot manifold..

What the air cooled VW's do it put the carb on the front of the turbo (where your air filter would normally go.. Problem with this, is you then can run an intercooler (well I don't think you can anyways :)

Lotus Esprit turbo used twin DCOE carbs.

Ok, thanks gents. Glad I never got laughed at! So the biggest problem really is the seals? At least I now no. Thanks again.

they only do this cos renault did it on the 5 gordini turbo.... you can run a chargecooler, mine hasnt popped yet.

With the carb before the turbo, I think you have to run some funky seal to stop the fuel rinsing the oil out the turbo?

I'm sure i remember some nutter on here fitting 2 carbs to one C1J. Side by side, one for cyl 1&2, one for 3&4.

Or am I imagining things?

TTS did it.

I've got a tts twin choke weber kit. Got a boost leak from the throttle shaft at the moment and getting any help or info is impossible! Going to remove the throttle lever and see what's in there as there must be a seal split. Works amazingly well normally just struggle with setup and parts as it's not standard part.

Lotus Esprit turbo used twin DCOE carbs.

I'm pretty sure they used Dellorto not Weber carbs.

There have been all sorts of things tried over the years, I take the conclusion to be use a 32DIS, or go EFI.

:agree:

But only if using a Suzuki Swift 16v head ;)

If you need weber spares you could try www.sciperformance.co.uk

you need a carbon seal on the inlet side of the turbo. - this makes it slightly less easy to spin.
you need one, because the throttle plate is after the carb, but before the turbo. on part throttle and upon decelleration there is a large vacuum formed on the inlet side of the turbo (with can help with the turbo spinning up), but it also sucks the oil from the core into the inlet, unless the carbon seal is present.

remember it ran backwards too......

a side draft large weber wont fit....its 4 inches long and the manifold will have to be 4 inches for a decent flow.....there,s only 8 or 9 between the bulk and head! i tried a drla but could'nt get it to fuel right!
