View Full Version : Points on licence..????
How long do points on your licence last for..?
and how exactly are they removed when the time has been served..?
i have a paper licence.
Depends what the points are for, the bad ones stay for 10 years like Drink drive etc. Speeding is 3 i think.. I believe you have to send the liscence off to remove...
I think points are three years and claims are five years (dont quote me on it though). Dont know what they do about the paper license, never really thought about it. I need to look cause Ive had about 12 points over the last ten years.
Im curious now....
speeding driving without insurance etc,, stay on for 3 yrs for insurance purposes but will remain on the licence physically for 4 yrs then you have to send it of to dvla to have them removed, im 99% thats right,if not some one will know for sure
speeding etc, points stay on your licence for 3 years, drink drive stay on for four years, but you have to declare d/d related offensives for 10 years. if you have the paper licence, you might aswell get yourself a D1 from the post office and send of for the photo card licence. ( you will have to do this soon anywayz) :D

oooeer!! ive just found a duplicate paper licence and it hasnt got any points/fines written on it:p.
ive only got 6 points on my licence. the 1st 3 i got about 6 yrss ago and the 2nd lot i got around 3yrs ago so i may be clean now:)
i need to find out if i apply for a photocard licence that they will automatically update the points on my existing licence. i dont want them tranfering them over to the photocard licence if the points are out of date.
Raj, they'll transfer over whatever is still relevant in their database
"Offence codes SP10 to SP50 must stay on a driving licence for four years from date of offence."
WTF!! I didnt realize they were on for that long, man I need to be real carefull for the next 3 years!!

All BOLD bits are only valid for conviction sp10-sp50

i never knew that! i must have it as at one point i must have lost my original licence and then later found it.
they are both identical apart from one has the points details written on it.
i only use 1 and im holding on to the other incase i loose one.
ill obviously ditch both when i get round to buying a photo card licence!

Its a risk you take Raj,
Just remember if you ever get raided by the boys in the blue and that find 2 driving licence you could be done for fraud...
They may claim u use the clean licence to show insurance companies, work or to the police if you ever get pulled over on the side of the road etc
Are you likely to get raided by the fuzz Raj ?
