swapping comp housings?

Hi there I have a bb turbo with a custom 42comp housing and wheel, if I put on a 60 comp housing will it flow more air, or not due to the wheel?

do you already have the compressor housing :) i had one for my turbo and planned to got from a .50 to a .60 but the compressor wheels are different sizes. So hold it up if you have it and check they are the same size.

Yeah I have both, its a custom housing and wheel aparently so I have no idea of trim etc... But they do look the same size inlet wise. If the housing fits will the larger housing flow more air even with the same size wheel in there?

The 0.63 does indeed offer more absolute flow potential, but as always, there's more to the equation than simple flow rates. The 0.63 turbine housing will flow more than the 0.42, but the larger turbine housing will also spool up slower, thus you'll likely lose power in the low and middle power ranges. You might also run into a situation where the compressor flow is the limiting factor and not the turbine, where the addition of a 0.63 housing may not gain you a thing. So it might be a case of suck it and see :)

I have a .86 turbine housing housing and get boost by 3500rpm on the b18ft. But its fitted with a 42 comp housing which dosnt feel it comes in as strong as the 60. The only prob is that if I just swap the comp housing will it be worse due to the wheel:scratch:

Taken off the comp housing and the wheels are the same. Only prob is the back plate is smaller, is the only way I can sort this to remove the comp wheel and swap the back plates?

Thing is, as soon as you start removing wheels it needs balancing, you may as well get another unit & sell yours on Gary TBH.

I won't be removing the wheel unless it needs it for something else. Was hoping they would just swap over really:sad2:
