Has anyone on here used the head shim when fitting a new head gasket on a k series engine.I only ask as I'm doing one at the weekend and wanted some opinions on weather the shim is worth fitting.

It is a mod to cure head gasket failure. You need to fit the shim. Used to work at Landrover dealer and I must have done 3 a week one summer! Follow the instructions. Make sure you replace the head locating dowels as that is what causes gasket failure due to head shifting. Nice easy engine to work on. Do the waterpump and cambelt at the same time mate unless it's been done in the last few years.
