Now then Gents, Just after your opinions on this... Trying to insure my 5 for the first time in 2 years...

Heres the spec:

Agreed Value £8k
All Mods Declared - Cage, Seats, F4R Turbo - Fully Forged, Custom Manifolds & Exhaust, approx 350bhp, 3000 miles / year, respray...
Garaged
Social, Domestic & Commuting
Fully Comp
4 yrs NCB.
32yrs old.

So far Ive had 2 quotes:
HIC - £650
Sky - £550
Graham Sykes - Waiting for a reply...

I used to pay around £300.00 for it 2 years ago, but it wasn't agreed value and lower power... Do you think the prices quoted are about right?

Cheers Ashy

My Raider & 11 are insured together with Footman James, with an agreed value of the Raider of £5K for about £200

Maybe you should reduce the agreed value a little? :)

For the agreed value of 8k and mods they are probably half decent prices in the current climate matey

Can you add limited miles to the policy ? I think that may only be an option on classic policies, but worth an ask perhaps.

Graham Sykes wouldn't do an agreed value on the car, but they came out best for price for me.

Hic £378 for me, 6k valuation, everything declared. 36 14 years ncb on another car and 1 year on this policy.

Hope this helps

I think those prices are about right in the current climate, prices have rocketed over the last 2 years :crap:

HIC - £650
Sky - £550

That's not far off from what I'm paying for the Jap taxi. As has been said, insurance premiums have rocketed the past couple of years, and like fuel, I can't ever see them coming back down to a more realistic price either.

One thing's for sure though; it's more expensive to insure my Evo up here than what it was compared to 'da ghetto' of Dartford. Haven't yet worked that one out...

Ashy
15-05-2012, 10:23
Yeah, I was paying less on my v6 clio as a daily driver a couple of years ago! I don't want to reduce the agreed value just incase the worst happens (one engine fires enough) and that is limited to 3000 miles!

Mart
15-05-2012, 10:37
What's the excess value? You could try increasing that, as that should then help drop the premium.

Obviously won't help matters should you have to make a claim later down the line, but you pays ya money, you takes ya chances.

Managed to get HIC down to £550 all in inc trackday cover so think thats the best bet!

Ive used them before and at least the agreed value is thorough and any replacement is like for like!!

Isnt HIC part of Adrian Flux nowadays??

I'm with Graham Sykes, Car Crash i'm surprised GS won't insure with a cage. They did with me with the Clio 172 track car, bar a turbo conversion it couldnt be any more modified in any other area along with the cage and Sykes were the cheapest. Still with them with the modified RB 182

Insurance is a nightmare atm.

HIC wanted £382 for my standard BMW 323ise for TPFT with driving other cars. That's with a 3000miles limited mileage policy!! It does include driving other cars 3rd party but wtf. I'm 35 with 11yrs NCB and the car is only worth £800.

Only Sky at £360 and Flux at £338 were any better. Everyone else was over £400. I could get it at £300 flat from HIC but that was without driving other cars.

Went with Flux.

flux just quoted me £3200??????

im 26 with 1 years no claims and licence for 1 year. Admiral charged me 1300 quid for first year :S

any ideas?

Footman james wont quote online you need licence for 5 years.

Graham Sykes wanted a grand.

Anyone else I can try?

Cheers

Have you dont pass plus?? Considering only having your licence for a year might be worthwhile.... Atleast ask the insurance companies prices if you have done it....

Message me if it makes a difference ;)

SirSamuelOfBuca

I didn't do pass plus simply because admiral did not give a discount with it. :(

I could do it though :D

I dont mind paying a grand if I have to (well I do but I need to be able to drive!).

Cheers for any advice! :D

Insurance is a total rip off now, my partner was with shielas wheels, she made 2 claims last year, first was for a lock set after we got burgled and keys where taken, the second was for driving into the back of someone in slow moving traffic, 2 whippys, scuffed bumper and a broken number plate on there car, total claim was around 4k her number plate was cracked around the fixing screw, she is now classed as a high risk. Honestly is all the people making false claims and the insurance companies paying out who are to blame, that why everyone else has to suffer.

You then get into the mind set, ah well it was done to me, i might as well make a claim myself should it ever happen, not good.

If you say no mods & you have mods you may aswell have no insurance.... If you were ever in a serious accident & you car was examined your insurance could be invalidated...
