Hi there is a strange pipe that seems to go no where, or it has fallen off somewhere, wonder if someone could tell me where it should go?

If you look at the carburetor for the passenger side of the car, its on this side, below the lobster. The carburettor has a small unit that sits on the side of it, held on with some bolts and has a gasket - this has a pipe that comes from it and it goes no where. I thought it might be a check valve for the venturi? Anyway should the pipe be connected to something or is it an overflow or the such?

Your advice would be appreciated!

Many thanks.

The small unit is for the enrichment.

The pipe just keeps atmospheric pressure at the back of a moving diaphragm instead of it being sealed and so preventing the diaphragm moving fully.

In case the diaphragm leaks, the pipe is there to convey petrol away from the hot exhaust manifold directly under it.
