i have had f4r lump sat up for a while ,but now have it up and running but it hunting on tick over (up and down up and down)
i thought it was an air leak as the manifold have been off when the cambelt was done (not been running since) but after checking for air leaks a few times . i woundering if it could be water temp sensor ?or could the cam belt being a tooth out causeing the hunting?
thanks allan

Sounds like a breather fault split vac hose or probably a sticking throttle body.

Possibly idle control valve? remove try a clean or replace! but I must admit it does sound like a slight manifold air leak, can you hear a sucking sound anywhere?

How much is it hunting? them engines do

Regarding the belt being out, I believe it would miss right through the rev range if this was so.

Try spraying a can of carb cleaner around the engine and listening for an increase in tick over

doesn't have idle control valve, but thats what it's like?

it's hunting around 500 or 600 rpm
