OE Oil cooler sandwich plate fitting

Now this is a bit of a stupid question but it has been such a longtime since I have seen a standard setup.
My question is where the OE sandwich plate bolts to the block is there a gasket between the sandwhich plate and the block?? i know the mocal ones there is and I am sure the standard OE one must have something?
