RTOC changed for the better - I joined :D
I can't believe how quickly it's gone! I've got to say, I've loved pretty much every minute of it: I've learnt loads, I've attended some great events, seen some awesome cars, I've got some fantastic deals, but most importantly - I've met plenty of people who I now consider great friends :agree:
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Joining RTOC - THE best money you'll ever spend on your Renault Turbo

Think it was about 1996/97 when i first joined R5gtt owners club when Malcolm Rousse and Rachel Fodden where running the show. Used to love it when the Wastegate mag dropped through the door, as at the time that was pretty much all the info there was on local events and other members.:( I remember GT Tunings glossy colour mag with all the expensive chrome ****e in.
It was a few years later early 2000? when i met such stalwarts as Sparkie and Karlos just when the internet started and RTOC was born.:D
Bloody 35 this month and feeling decrepid!

Aii, we've all had a right good giggle over the years. Some awesome days/evenings out, with countless unforgettable moments :D
I'll have to hunt out those videos of Ricardo at Donington, all those years ago. I still don't think he's ever plucked up the courage to watch them
The wine drinking competition at Rws?? those were the days...Mart in his best shorts at the collectors shirt and tie dinner do
It's been 6 years for me ,I've got some great friends who I have met great cars , The best clubs on the net for renaults and advice

Got my first GTT in 94 and a second LHD write off in early 95 for spares! Joined the Renault 5 GT Turbo Owners Club in late '94 and have been here ever since. I've not been to a single event and that's my biggest regret (I can thank the British Army for that) but, I've always felt that the RTOC forums are by far the friendliest and most welcoming.
Now that I'm living in Oz, the chances of me getting to an event are slim but if the stars align in the future, I'll be there.
Happy tenth Bill.
Over 9 years for me:crap:.
I've been in the club for approaching 15years. From circa 1997 IIRC.
It's about time the club allocated honorary membership to those who've have been members a very, very long time. 15 years for example. :D
That's the one - When Renault UK laid on cars for us, to get us to attend the Gala do
I forgot about Mart's shorts - Awesome
I still cannot believe we actually didn't get chucked out the travelodge that night, mart trying to help himself to a pint and Ricardo decorating the toilets :D
 That was a truly great night! :D
To be fair, it was Dell who 'bullied' me/us on the day into going to that Gala - I had only rocked up at RWS in my shorts thinking we'd all be camping/on the beers that night :ashamed: :D
Getting chauffeured to the gala & back for gratis in that new shmoo Renault Espace was a touch as well
Those were the days :ashamed:  :D
:agree:
We need more events/nights out  :)
I've been knocking about the boards I think about 7 years, and boy in that time I've attended some crazy nights/weekends away. National Days, RR days, No Bling, curries, PMTrackdays, the whole nine yards and I have to say along the way I couldn't have met better friends, true friends.

I think I'm about 8-9 years in myself.

 That was an awesome night. Marts dress code was legendary.
Thing that sticks in my mind best was the Barrie "Whizzo" Williams chat (or was it lecture, I forget ;) ) and watching Marts eye's light up when he saw the chotolate fountain.
Oh, and Mart's right. Still a Newby Billy.;)
I can't remember where the RR shoot out was but we went the night before and stayed in the local Travelodge esque hotel (Adey had the white Clio GTT)
It was when TK turned up with black eyes, Queensbury rules, sticky starter motor story :D
Thing that sticks in my mind best was the Barrie "Whizzo" Williams chat (or was it lecture, I forget ;) )
That's when he was going on about some 'magical' lever underneath the dash that altered the ignition. "Nah Barrie, that's the choke" :D

 Wasn't that the same night that you were found face down in the gutter, and the ol' bill had to bring you back to the Travel Inn?
A few more gems...
Giles (Gymnast) borrowing some random barman's clothes & shoes, just so he/we could get into a club :wasntme:
Changing Alex's gearbox in the Travel Inn car-park. "Could do with some more light" - At that exact moment the adjacent football pitch floodlights came on :D
Think it was that same night that Tricky scored with the local munter, but tried to keep it all hush hush & made out nothing happened - Shame we were already outside the next morning when he walked out the hotel with her to take take her back home
Fecking Raider's alternator wiring coming loose just after we (20 cars?) all pulled out of the M1 Todington services en route to a ND at Pod, only for everyone to then follow suit & also pull over on the hard shoulder, thus bringing that section of the M1 to a standstill
Sammy Tripod spewing up his recently-eaten curry due to laughing so hard :D
Tricky & Dougal smashing seven bells of sh1t out of some 'borrowed' section of armco barrier, to repair T-cup's seat-base at Rockingham...whilst a driver's briefing was taking place & somewhat interrupting the guy speaking
Awesome times :D
And then there's the Knockhill weekend...

Oh dear :D
The Vectra hire car, demanding it HAD to be a manual, taped over headlights, PMT stickers, airbox PMTd :D
Talking Scottish, saaawsaaaaarge :D
Brake testing and wheel spinning the Vectra to test it out :D
Oh and realising about an hour into the journey back to the hire place we still had the number plates taped up :D
With 4 Janky southerners wearing black hats (suspect) :D

Awesome times :D
I'm in stitches here
That one with Giles borrowing the clothes HAS to be the funniest one ever. That was just so feckin funny. ''ere Giles, that geezer's about your height, ask him if he's got any clothes you can borrow, so we can go clubbing"
Then there was Mike (M5) holding up that ESSO garage with an anti-perc' fan, at 2 in the morning after a night out, before THAT moment with the bottle of Coke, and force feeding Lee (Rodders) tea bags, because he wanted a cuppa!
And the night with Tricky and the munter was also the same night he was rattling on about what a big drinker he was, before getting smashed on 2 pints!
I can't stop grinning, soooo many stories :D
A bit emotional as well as they're good times
"Can't drive an automatic. It's against my religion"
It was worth the wait, they had a truck delivering more hire cars to the airport!

My memorable story has to be the one on NBATR 07 with Tricky & his Starsky + Hutch magnetic blue light & pulling random Europeans over.
Best thing was when the Police car pulled him over
Lucky git got away with it also :wasntme:

Ah yeah. I organised that Bristol RR event.:) Ricky lost us somewhere over the night and got a lift home by plod in time for breakfast, still pissed.:laugh:
My cars gearbox change was typical of our amazing club. Only in the rtoc could we have a double header TD weekend, Cadwell and Rockingham, blow my gearbox to bits at Cadwell, bung it on the trailer and change the box in Travelodge carpark on the day off inbetween! Col found a gearbox somewhere in London and the boys coming up for the Rockingham TD picked it up and transported it to us in Corby. All hands on deck to remove box. As we pulled it out the next box arrived. Bunged it in. Quick forward and backward test in the carpark. Back on the trailer. Back on the beers and out at Rockingham to complete the TD the next day.
Tricky beating the sh*t out of that bit of armco in the next garage to the briefing was that same Rockingham TD!
Feckin' awesome times.:smokin:
