This is taking the piss. I have had it on the front of my car without a bumper for nearly 3 months, and somebody has now decided to bloody well steal the item. Just rung up Pace Products and they want over £200 just for the rad.

Does anyone know of any places which can get hold of one, or a type of bike I can get the rad off to fit. Any help that would be great.

Could someone measure up the dimensions of one as well so I can see if I can get one made up please.

Gutted to hear that Dale

Wasn't Dave @ AVT selling charge cooler parts? I might be wrong though.

He does, but for the larger PWR charge coolers, 1/2" diameter, going to ring him up after 9 thats if he answers the phone.

Was going to look at that something like what what Duncan done on his Vag 5. Would rather keep the standard look of the 5 seeming that have just spent lots of money getting it that way.

Unbelieveable. Sorry to hear that mate.

Sniff out a bike rad' off Ebay - Something from an R1 or the such like will do the trick.

Take some comfort from the fact it'll be more efficient than the Pace rad' for sure.

Just spoken to Dave at AVT, had a alloy pre-rad which is 26" x 7" x 3.5" should be good for cooling, only thing is will it fit behind the bumper as I have now welded on a bracket in front of the fan so i could mount the pace rad on there as that is quite fine. Now with an additional 2" of so, dont know how much gap between the bumper the the brack is going to be. Anyone know what space it is from the cross member to the front bumper? Am at work else ill measure tonight.

Ford :crap: not into that sort of thing. But a link would be great :) saying that have found that the heater matrix for a Escort / Orion might be ideal for what I want. They would only cost me £16.20 each from work

Dale i know this is exceptionally cheeky of me but do you know the pump inlet and outlet hose diameters and what litre per second the pump works at? I'm really sorry to hear about the thieving thats really harsh!

Believe its about 1/4" but ill measure some time soon when im at home. As for the pump im not sure, was going to find the bosch part number as I know that has a lot better flow rate and also larger diameter on inlet and outlet

Forget to put, you still after the heater controls which you posted on the old site.

I am mate? You got some handy? Well i've found a bosch pump that flows at 13.3L/sec but didnt know if this was good enough or not?!

Bigfoot
09-09-2008, 11:51
Well wouldn't say handy, but it will be in a bag in the back of the car which i have stripped. Shouldn't take too long to find.

http://www.advancedvehicletuning.co.uk/catalog2/product_info.php?cPath=21_28&products_id=28

thats the bosch unit you need to look at. been told it fits a VW VR6, the auxiliary cooling pump or something like that. Might have to go through the catalogues at work to see what it is. Trying to sort out a rad first though. Im liking the look of the cozworf rad though, might ring them up to get some measurements

Chris Hebden

Yea i saw that and it says "it can pump 1200 litres an hour" i worked out the pump i found will do 798L/H might be a little slow! I can have a word with Duncan if you want about his rad's, he did tell me but i cant remember what he said he used?!

Bigfoot

Yeah if you could, did see them in may when he had the bumper off, but never paid that much attention to size wise of them.

Noope, its a bit bit more substantial that that. The VR6 unit is a small thing, about 4" long.

0 392 020 024 is the bosch number for the additional pump.

or 17072 at GSF.

Cheers, nice price from work as well. Think that Airtec looks like best option, need to speak to them about dimensions of it. Think first thing first is see what size I can fit behind the bumper.

Chris just had a look, that pump is from a lot of vehicles, ford galaxy and also a lot of golfs, no spec though when looking at the catalogue. That pump says its for a 2.8 vr6 golf. its the additional water pump operation electric.

Chris Hebden
09-09-2008, 13:57
My concern is its an "additional" pump, would that make it weaker maybe? As that suggests to me that its designed to support something else maybe??

Bigfoot
09-09-2008, 14:02
Not sure what it is actually used for. but if its like the 19 the additional pump works after you turn the motor off and pumps the water around the circuit to cool it down after use. Those motors would have been tested for 1000 hours so its not going to be weak :)

Chris Hebden
09-09-2008, 14:16
Ah right i understand now! That would be a good one to use i guess then as long as the flow rate is ok!?

The flow rate is way lower than the Pace pump. It doesnt have to handle any pressure either.

That pump only does 500l/lr max at 0.1 bar, at 0.2 bar it drops right down to only 250l/hr

0.3 bar is where it stalls. No good for a chargecooler pump. You run about 5-6psi in a CC system (about 0.35bar)

http://www.boschmotorsandcontrols.co.uk/elektromotoren/aggregate/wasserumwaelzpumpen/0392020024/index.htm

only at 0.1bar of pressure.

Something like
http://www.boschmotorsandcontrols.co.uk/elektromotoren/aggregate/wasserumwaelzpumpen/0392022002/index.htm

might be up for the job then. That fits a range rover 4.2 sport or a volvo XC90 V8

If you do free delivery it will be a couple of pounds cheaper buying that one from your site. So do you do free delivery ;) so guessing from that, it might be from another car but same sort of outputs or that due to you can buy massive bulk quantities of that one part number they might do a better discount. Am I correct on part number? or is it going to be a cant tell you as that would give your game away

What water hose does people reccomend for charge cooler systems. I am looking at running a 19mm dia. Would normal aquarious pipe stand up to the heat? Or would i need something else? Cheers

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

Ive fitted 2 pace pre rads to my 5 to increase the water in the system. I actually had 3 rads so i have a spare one in the garage. I think it need the mounting tag welded back on tho as it snapped off. Is it any use to ya Dale?
