Can anyone confirm if you should use a thread sealant on male AN fittings?

I know the connections seal on the conical faces but I'm talking about the straight adaptors that you would fit into your fuel rail or FPR as below... I know it has an o-ring to seal on but wonder if I should use some thread sealant aswell for good measure?

Is slap some ptfe tape on just to be doubly sure bud doubt you even need that.

Don't use ptfe tape, the petrol will eat it away!

Just use some thread lock, it's petrol resistant ;)

It depends on the fitting, the AN bit is the conical end. If it's NPT it should seal, or if it's some BSP or metric fitting then it'll want a copper washer, o-ring or similar. If it's not a taper thread don't use sealant. It might seal for a while but there is no guarantee it'll last :crap: Definately no ptfe tape as mentioned :)

Yeah its not a taper thread its a straight adaptor, 9/16 UNF, as per the photo, the fitting comes complete with an o-ring to seal off on but I just wondered if people use some sort of threadlock/sealant more to stop it coming loose over time.

You could put a dowty washer on it instead of the o ring.

That 9/16" is quite common on regulators, rails etc. They usually use an o-ring like pictured but in those cases there is a land around the female thread to accept it. Dowty or copper washer is the other way if the surface around the thread is level.

on military aplications we use loctite 572. works very well.
