Hi all been out around a few bodyshops today to get some prices on have some repairs done on some body kit parts.

I wanted side skirts repaired and sprayed straight black
Rear arches repaired and sprayed and front arches sprayed

I went to 4 different places in different area local to me

First quote was £100

http://www.bodyrepair-newport.co.uk/
http://www.ceejayautoworx.com/70003/info.php?p=10&pno=0

Second was £300

Third was £200
http://www.blackwoodautomation.co.uk/contact-us

And the forth was £300
http://www.motaspray.co.uk/

How do I know how to pick a decent one out of them all
I've heard good things about the cheapest one of them the third place is a recommendation by someone off a car forum and I've seen a full respray done on a wide arch corsa done by the forth place. And the second was just a random one I seen on the way.

Also had a quote from the first place for a full outside respray between £800-£1100 and when the last place I when to asked about other quotes he when on to say thats cause he doesn't use cheap laquar the cheapest they use is £650 a gallon or something

Any advice gladly appreciated

£1000 for respray sounds bit cheap unless it was a completly striped ready to go to paint:confused:

i charge under 800 for full resprays, always have done. the cheaper materials would only cost say £170-200 the rest is TIME........some people have good labour rate and other mega dear depending on the size of the body shop and if you have overns ect

if its some dude on his own ect who enjoys painting :D has small over heads why would charge mega money?

i dont think any painter would like to see a job go out full of orange peel

I found it depends on what is included in the full respray. If you want all the old sealer removing and then re-applying, the any additional effect in the paint, fil flops etc. Had a full respray on my old Saph cossy £250 but that was rub down and paint, my RS Turbo Van which has a flip in the paint required more prep and needed several coats to cover due to the finish was almost £1k.

I've always been quoted figures of around £500/600, I mean she is only a small thing... but I have learned, you get what you pay for

Ask philr5t (http://www.rtoc.org/boards/member.php?u=1075), I was shocked to find out how much he paid for his Ferrari Rosso Red, looks F*ing mint but its paint :o

I have always wanted "flip paint" on my car or Matt Black (price?). Gibbo's orange R5 also looks great with the metal flakes.
