Phoebe phase 1 has got her old rims back on, loving driving it, i drive so slow and she gets an aweful lot of attention:agree: - just need to find an OE ph1 Grille for her and put a few other OE bits back on that came with her.

My new twins agree how cool 5s are and we are ganging up on mummy...

Phoebe is back!

Just had front and rear screens out, all rust sorted, including on the slam panel and it is flawless now!

Also had the front seats stripped, repaired and re-trimmed in OE fabric, soooo comfy and the black is really dark!!!

Also done a new clutch, flywheel, starter motor, lots of OE hoses, loom tidying, new clutch pedal and cable, re-hung the exhaust, new driveshaft, etc etc... This weekend is all new ball joints, wheel bearings, track rods, disks, pads and then hopefully fit the OE suspension and raise the rear torsion bars.

Parts needed: under bonnet carpet, good gear knob, black seat belt retainers (base metal bits mine are chrome)...

Ill try and get some pictures up of all the new bits, and do a before and after:agree: Before pictures here:

Good on you for buying the car from the last owner and committing to doing the hard yards :agree:

Btw, the chrome seat belt retainers are OE... ;)

Also, sorry about the bonnet carpet. Jon (5279) is keeping it well though :)

Always ridiculously jealous of anyone with a nice Ph1 and this is no exception. Did you not keep one of those Ph1 grilles for yourself?

Fan-farkin-tastic mate. One of the top cars in the club.

I knew it was a good idea keeping all the original bits :D

It's very cool to see the non-adjustable passenger door mirror :)

Having gone totally OE on the exterior in all other respects, I'm surprised you didn't refit the ph1 grille though??

Seats look top. :agree:

Hi mate, thanks:agree: Don't you have a blue coupe?:laugh::laugh: Want to swap?

I did manage to get 5 grilles made and they are perfect, i was astounded to the quality... only snag was that they are moulded in grey/black colour and am waiting for the body shop to finish colour coding them in proper grey plastic paint, is costing quite a bit to get them sorted properly;) Should be on in a week or two :agree: Cant wait to get it on :)

Are the rear seat belt clips different on the Ph1 as the ones fitted don't clip into the holders...

Thanks Trev, and thanks for keeping all the bits together in one place

Good spot on the mirror - you're a Ph1 Geek :scratch::goodJob::laugh:

The OE Grille is a bit damaged and not worth fitting without a decent repair, and the new ones will be ready in a week or so... Need a decent gear knob next  mine one is toast.

Also - the rear squirty jet is missing, but i think it is in the box of bits - was it a funny squat shape one or like the later Ph2 taller post style?

Memory serves me right phase 1 rear seat buckles have a tapered slot in rear that push fit to original round peg. Might have some in the loft.

I'm liking the look of that

Dare I say, I think it needs raising a little bit though :scared:

What did you use on the bumpers? I tried this the other week on my 172 trim, after trying some of their other products, and it's AMAZING stuff:

I wish. BTW the re upholstery looks great.

Bill I recommend that to everyone but know of none that have actually forked out, closet detailer methinks.

Alastair

Yeah I think it needs bringing up off the weeds a little:agree:

Didn't get time to raise it today, two little boys (4 months old) needed some Daddy time in between sorting it

It will be going back to standard height on the original Ph1 springs and dampers as soon as i get 5 minutes:) Constructive criticism like that is welcomed!

Oh and the OE stereo is a phillips jobbie, but there is no 'surround' for it to cover the forks that slot it in - is this normal?

Bill, I used some long term restorer from the body shop, it is a very old bottle and says 'non silicone based' - ill take a pic of the bottle and post it up, v good stuff though :agree:

When that runs out ill invest in the stuff you suggest and give it a go:agree: Thanks for the link!

Why do you think I got myself a 172? :ashamed:

The Gtechniq range is brilliant. I tried the G4 and G1 on the glass, after reading rave reviews. I was a bit 'hmmmm' about forking out that much for such a small amount, but jeez, I don't think I've ever used such effective products

Ill start the hunt for one then  lets hope ebay turns one up  Ive got an Alpine hands free job in there and it looks ok and works really well, so no rush to put the cassette deck back in  Would just like to have one to get it complete :(

The rear washer jet is the same as the ph2 I think, the tall post type IIRC. :agree:

Are you missing a plastic seat belt buckle clip in the rear seats? It looks like there are only two.

I thought that, but don't they have a plastic 'doubler' like the ph2? Confused me a bit - maybe Mike has some bits in stock... time for a call/text his way

Well, I paid £532 when I bought it so that's not a massive loss :)

I did have a phase 1 grill but I sold it for 15 quid. I didn't know they were so hard to find at the time.
