Protecting the inner floorpan

As i've got the interior and carpets etc out of the car, i thought i'd treat the floor pan to some waxoyl. Would this be the best thing to use as it doesn't completely dry because i'm obviously putting the carpet back in over the top of it?

Is that not a similar product to the hammerite direct to rust paint? Ideally I wanted to get it sorted this weekend and I'm guessing from what I see on eBay that its from the US, and I'm not gonna find it on the shelves of Halfords :D
